Another good documentary w/ a similar aim is The World Without Us (netflix) that looks at what would happen if the US took an isolationist stance on foreign policy. Humanity's impact, nature's resilience. Journalist Alan Weisman released his bestselling book The World Without Us in 2007 and images depicting the environmental impacts of human disappearance. In today's world there is more CO2 floating around in the world than there ever was in the past 650,000 years. Weisman's book, The World Without Us, grew out of two questions, he said. Yet envisioning that world through the lens of science is exactly what Alan Weisman has accomplished in his utterly captivating and beautifully believable book The World Without Us. When we learn about the history of the earth, we are often most interested in the beginning of humanity and assume that life on this planet won't continue without us. Humans often look at the world from their point of view. NPR used a FOIA Request to obtain this stunning document laying out what life would have been like after the U.S had eliminated its debt. When I first picked up The World Without Us (by Alan Weisman), I thought it would be another one of those global warming books that shoves a political agenda down your throat.
